The inside part of the museum is fantastic, a lot of great exhibits well maintained and with plenty of information and interactivity. A nice cafe as well, with reasonable prices. The rest of the site, however, is a sad sight. A lot of the exhibits are needing serious attention, and the amount of abandoned rusty bits of machinery all through the site is unpleasant. I also appreciate that the trams are currently out of use due to technical problems, but it would at least be nice if they could keep the tram shed open during the day so we could see the small fleet.

This is a gem of an attraction of the Industrial past in North Lanarkshire. There is much for probably over 8 year old children and adults at this central location. The cafe is also extremely good. There is no charge for entry to this attraction.

Brilliant visit again, so informative and engaging. Better to go visit the houses when weather isn't so cold though!

A super day out - great for children and adults. Find out about the history and industry of the area with lots of machinery and displays which are very interesting. See how people lived in different eras in Scotland, take a trip down a coal mine or fo a trip on the tram - there is lots to see and do. There's a cafe, shop and a playback and plenty of parking. Did I mention its free! Most areas suitable for plans or wheelchairs.

We had a great day out here with our 3 year old grandson. There is so much to do and see, inside and out. It was a cold day as it was February we were there and we still had a great time. It will be even better when it's good weather, especially at the amazing play park they have. We had lunch in the cafe which was good and very reasonably priced. I definitely recommend a visit.

Great place for kids. Highly recommend. Under 5’a not allowed in the coal mine and the tram was off long term for a repair.

Excellent industrial site for visitors. There is a museum with heavy industrial machines, video information and a cafe. A walk around the road and over a bridge takes you to the miners cottages that are furnished from the late 1800s to the mid 20th century. There is also a mine where you can get a tour and a glimpse of the condition coal miners worked in. The entry to the Museum is free and there is a charge of £2.00 for the mine tour, which is great value. There is a canal walk with a kids playground too.

Fabulous combination of industrial heritage and humble homes through the ages. Working steam engines. Recreation of mine. Easily accessed by train. What's more it's free. Astonishing.

Really well laid out exhibits showing the history of the local area along with interactive areas where children are encouraged to get involved by very helpful / friendly staff. Whole area is very well maintained making it well worth a visit especially as it is FREE!
